General Electric AF-650 GP General Purpose Drive – Product Spotlight

General Electric’s AF-650 GP Series General Purpose Drive is designed to control mixers and material handling applications. The drive also includes advanced, sensorless and closed loop vector mode for demanding, constant torque applications. And a robust aluminum base delivers the mechanical stability needed in harsh environments.

The powerful, flexible, easy-to-use AF-650 GP series is available in four drive classes:

  • 230 V, rated for up to 50 horsepower
  • 460 V, rated for up to 1200 horsepower
  • 575 V, rated for up to 100 horsepower
  • 575/690 V, rated for up to 1350 horsepower

Each drive is ideally suited for both heavy duty and light duty applications.

Right out of the box, the AF-600 FP offers built-in simplicity to speed up installation and setup.
The keypad INFO key provides full-text, context-sensitive information to make programming easier and can eliminate the need for printed manuals. In most cases, start-up can be completed in less that 5 minutes.

The standard configuration includes an IP20 or IP00 chassis, the keypad, built-in DC Link Reactors, built-in Modbus RTU communications capabilities, an RFI A2 filter, Auto Tuning, a process PID controller, energy savings mode, and a built-in Logic Controller.

AF-650 GP drives also include several self protecting features, able to withstand 150 percent current overload for up to 1 minute. The flying start feature can catch a spinning motor, and an electronic thermal overload further protects the drive from harm.

Optional accessories include network communications modules for DeviceNet, Profibus DP, EtherNet IP, Modbus TCP/IP and Profinet RT. Drives are also available in IP54/55 and IP66 chassis types (NEMA 12 and NEMA 4X). Optional IP21 (NEMA 1) kits are available for all IP20 drive units rated for 100 horsepower and below.

Finally, add-on I/O modules, brake chopper, dynamic brake resistors and conformal coated boards allow the drive to meet any application need.
